  hark!! DANDELION TOWN is a  festival of flickering, vibrating,  combusting light, air and sound (experimental video) that seeks to foster and showcase the experiential art of queer, BIPOC, and disabled chicago artists.

  The videos of DANDELION TOWN........

  • foster specific points of marginalized view
  • destroy genre and medium
  • create new languages of empathy
  • are unstable;
  • are soft, are loud;
  • they are cheap and they light oxygen on fire;
  • are unsellable, for they are irremovable from the context of their creation and creator;
  • are hyper-local, speaking to city blocks not continents

these videos say fuck you to structures of control and work, in one way or another, to build newer worlds, whether thru the content of artwork or through their attitude and aesthetic of creation.

above all, I just wanna see new things, and bring people together to share in those things.

DANDELION TOWN is overseen by benana sonjira an artist working in mixed medias in Chicago. She is as anxious as she is gay and loves being shown that art and the world are not dead yet (maybe). She collaborates with ddbentl on the sister Chi event series Smash Yr Fingers
